MRI

Leading Hollywood Provider of High-Field Strength MRI Services

Our High-Field Strength MRI machine captures ultra-detailed magnetic scans of the body to produce two- and three-dimensional images with a high degree of accuracy.

Additionally, our multi-positional imaging technology allows our technologists and radiologists to conduct scans in the exact position where a patient is experiencing pain, ensuring precise results.

The MRI is used for imaging any body part, but it is particularly useful for viewing precise details of the brain, neck, cervical spine, lumbar spine, thoracic spine, and joints (such as shoulders, elbows, hips, knees, and ankles).

Referring physicians may require the use of intravenous contrast agents, such as gadolinium, to enhance certain anatomical structures and increase the diagnostic accuracy of the images.

You will not be able to have an MRI exam if you have any of the following:

  • Most pacemakers
  • Certain brain aneurysm clips
  • Cochlear implants
  • Metallic fragments in an eye
  • Implanted spinal cord stimulator
  • Certain other metal-containing implants

  1. If your MRI exam is without contrast, no major preparation is needed. The exam appointment can even be scheduled the same day if available.
  2. If your MRI exam is exam is with contrast, it means that injection of a contrast agent into a vein in your hand or arm is required to improve visualization of abnormalities on the MRI images. MRI contrast is an organically bound gadolinium-based material that is extremely safe and typically has no side effects, though there is always the potential for allergic reaction. Therefore, there are 2 requirements for an MRI with contrast:
    • No food: You need to be fasting for at least 4 hours to do the exam
    • If you are 60 years old or older, we need to review your latest lab test, including your creatinine and BUN range to ensure there is no risk of contrast reaction in your body. In preparation for the appointment, our representatives will request that you provide your lab test no older than 90 days.

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your appointment to avoid any major delays.

You will check in the front desk, fill out questionnaires and consents, and make payments. You will be escorted to a procedure room, where you may be asked to change into a patient gown. The technologist will review with you the questionnaires and ask you additional questions. The technologist will position you on a cushioned table that will move into the tube-shaped scanner. After you have been properly positioned, the technologist will begin obtaining the MRI images.

The MRI machine creates a magnetic field around you and directs radio waves at your body to create the MRI images. You won’t feel the magnetic field or radio waves, but you may hear loud tapping and thumping sounds coming from inside the machine. While the images are obtained, you will be instructed to breathe normally but to lie as still as possible. The technologist will monitor you from another room. You will be able to speak to the technologist through a microphone, and the technologist will also be able to talk to you.

  1. MRI exams without contrast: These exams may take from 20 to 30 minutes.
  2. MRI exams with contrast: These exams may take from 30 to 50 minutes.

The technologist will advise when the exam is done, and you will be escorted back to the front desk reception.

You can request a copy of the images on a CD before you leave so you can share it with any doctor.

Yes, for a small additional fee you can get additional copies.

The results will be done within 48 hours and will be delivered both to you and your doctor through email or fax.
